How I Built TILT AI — An AI Business Advisor for UK Teenagers

Ted Atkinson · 16 June 2026

I'm Ted. I'm 16. I just finished my GCSEs and instead of taking a break, I built something.

The problem I kept running into was simple: every "start a business" tool online assumed you were an adult. They assumed you had savings, a car, a company registered at Companies House, and time to spend on a complex platform. None of that applied to me.

So I built TILT AI.

What is it?

TILT AI is an AI-powered business blueprint generator built specifically for UK teenagers aged 13–18. You answer 14 questions about your skills, interests, available budget, and goals. The AI analyses your answers and generates a fully personalised business plan.

The output includes:

Why £2.99?

Most teenagers don't have income. I wanted TILT to be accessible — cheaper than a McDonald's meal, less than a Spotify subscription. One payment, no subscription, no upsells. You get your blueprint and you own it.

How I built it

The tech stack is React 19 with TypeScript on the frontend, an Express backend, and Claude Haiku from Anthropic as the AI brain. Payments are handled by Stripe (including Apple Pay and Google Pay). The database and authentication run on Supabase. The whole thing is hosted on Railway and deploys automatically when I push to GitHub.

I built it mostly in evenings and weekends between revision. The hardest part wasn't the code — it was getting the AI prompt right so the output actually felt personalised rather than generic.

Who is it for?

Any UK teenager aged 13–18 who wants to make money but doesn't know where to start. Whether you're into gaming, art, sport, tech, or have no idea what you're good at — TILT will find a business model that fits you.
